| Broadcom | Legacy | AppWorx Workload Automation | Business Process Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2018 | 2018 |
In 2018, OCC deployed AppWorx Workload Automation from Broadcom as its Business Process Management platform to centralize job scheduling and orchestration for BI, analytics, and data engineering workloads. The implementation targeted a multi-environment architecture, operating primarily on-premise with connectivity to an AWS test environment to support cloud integration pilots and environment synchronization across Dev, UAT, Pre-Prod and Production.
The implementation focused on core workload automation capabilities typical of Business Process Management, including event based and dynamic scheduling, job chaining, and automated backup and recovery orchestration. AppWorx Workload Automation was configured to handle scheduling for Tableau Server and Alteryx Server workflows, to drive extract refreshes and workflow runs, and to support Python driven tasks executed through TabPy and Alteryx Python environments.
Operational integrations and tooling were aligned with OCCs existing platform stack, including coordination with ServiceNow for change requests and release windows, CyberArk for automated credential management, SailPoint for group and AD synchronization, Jenkins and Artifactory for Python library distribution, and DB2 as a data source. The workload automation layer was used to orchestrate cross system workflows that touched Tableau, Alteryx, TabPy, and ancillary monitoring and DevOps tools, maintaining environment parity and scheduling consistency.
Governance for the AppWorx deployment was embedded in IT runbooks and release procedures, with change control executed through ServiceNow and daily application health checks as part of operational cadence. Runbooks covered scheduling governance, backup and disaster recovery alignment with production, site and user synchronization across environments, and incident and problem management workflows tied to the BI and platform operations teams.
The deployment placed workload orchestration under the purview of OCCs BI and IT operations groups, supporting server administration, performance troubleshooting, and automated task execution across analytics and data pipelines. AppWorx Workload Automation was referenced as the central Business Process Management control point for scheduling and operational orchestration across OCCs analytics and data infrastructure.
