In 2015, Ocyan implemented IBM Maximo as its Enterprise Asset Management platform to centralize maintenance records and asset control for onboard critical equipment. IBM Maximo served as the core system of record for maintenance planning and electronic equipment lifecycle management across the companys offshore operations.
The implementation focused on asset registry, work order management, preventive maintenance scheduling, and spare parts inventory and procurement, reflecting Enterprise Asset Management functional workflows. Configuration emphasized periodic maintenance and troubleshooting workflows, inspection record keeping, and recording corrective maintenance activities for complex mechatronic and control systems.
IBM Maximo was used alongside the CMMS Star IPS to maintain and review maintenance history for equipment families including Aker drilling control systems, anti-collision systems, MAN engine control and Siemens Step 7 based safety controls, BOP control systems, ABB LV switchgear and relay systems, VFD drives, optical fiber and Ethernet networks, Profibus networks, dynamic positioning sensors, fire and safety sensors, and PAGA systems. Operational coverage centered on the electronics and maintenance departments aboard vessels and drilling assets, capturing job scheduling, spares consumption, and inspection outcomes tied to specific assets.
Governance practices implemented with IBM Maximo included scheduling jobs in alignment with operational windows, managing spare parts within budget constraints, and formalizing training and installation workflows for new client requirements. Maintenance supervisors used the system to prioritize critical equipment work, document troubleshooting activities, and support inspection attendance and compliance reporting.
