In 2018 Oldcastle Infrastructure, Inc. implemented UKG Pro HCM (ex UltiPro HCM) to centralize Core HR activities for the Global Infrastructure Products Group, with a primary focus on compensation and benefits administration. The deployment targeted merit and bonus review workflows for Executive, Administrative and Production employee populations and established the HRIS as the authoritative system for salary benchmarking, variable pay programs and benefits enrollment tracking.
UKG Pro HCM was configured to automate core compensation workflows including merit cycle management and bonus payment processing, and to capture and persist employee compensation data for salary banding and grading initiatives. The implementation emphasized configuration of benefits open enrollment processes and the upload and validation of elections into the HRIS, while enabling administrators and HR Directors to use system data for salary benchmarking, promotions and role change decisions.
Operational integrations and coverage were organized around close partnership with payroll and HR Directors, with UKG Pro HCM serving as the central HRIS for compensation, benefits, union health and welfare coordination and 401k administration. The HR team coordinated testing of benefits election uploads and payment processes, maintained compliance with collective bargaining agreements for unionized sites and supported M&A due diligence by providing compensation and benefits analysis and on-site enrollment workshops for acquired employees.
Governance was layered through cross-functional project teams and HR Centers of Excellence, with the total rewards function leading continuous improvement efforts to update variable compensation plans and designing a recognition and rewards program. The program included leading a grading and salary banding project to improve pay consistency, defining payroll and benefits process touchpoints, and establishing testing and communication protocols for each annual enrollment and compensation cycle.
