SAP Legacy SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial ERP n/a 2019 2021
In 2019, Openreach implemented SAP S/4 HANA to consolidate and standardize its core finance environment, executing a program aligned to the ERP Financial category across the United Kingdom finance organization. The program framed SAP S/4 HANA as the central finance system for statutory reporting, general ledger control, and financial governance at scale for the communications operator. The SAP S/4 HANA deployment encompassed ERP Financial functional modules including general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed asset accounting, cash and treasury management, period end close orchestration, and tax and statutory reporting. Configuration work emphasized finance master data management, chart of accounts harmonization, period close automation, and embedded operational analytics provided by SAP S/4 HANA. Technical scope covered structured data migration workflows and interface orchestration to consolidate financial master data and transactional feeds, with design attention on batch and real time posting patterns and auditability. The architecture leveraged SAP S/4 HANA transaction processing and reporting capabilities to centralize ledgers and support consistent financial postings across business units. A dedicated PMO for SAP S/4 HANA implementation provided program governance, phased rollout planning, test and cutover management, and stakeholder change management. The PMO also coordinated finance process redesign, end user training, and compliance control definition to enable adoption of SAP S/4 HANA across finance operations.
