In 2017 Pathlab implemented Sysmex HCLAB LIS as a Laboratory Management application supplied by Sysmex Asia Pacific, deploying the system to support its New Zealand laboratory operations. The Sysmex HCLAB LIS installation was delivered as a customised configuration to align with Pathlab workflows, with explicit attention to specimen accessioning and result reporting across clinical laboratory teams. Sysmex HCLAB LIS was configured to provide core Laboratory Management functionality including sample accessioning and specimen tracking, result capture and reporting, laboratory quality control workflows, and instrument data capture. The implementation emphasized configurable workflows and role based access for laboratory technologists and reporting staff, with customization to meet Pathlab specific test catalogues and reporting formats. Operationally the Sysmex environment existed alongside other enterprise systems used by Pathlab, with staff learning Greentree, Roster live, Access Attache and a customised Sysmex system for medical laboratories as part of day to day operations. The deployment included standard laboratory interfaces and was configured to capture analyzer output and support order entry and results flow consistent with hospital and clinic ordering patterns. Governance and adoption workstreams included cross functional training for clinical, administrative and finance personnel, reflecting the need for multiple teams to interact with the Laboratory Management application. Local operational ownership centered on laboratory heads and reporting leads who managed configuration, quality control processes and ongoing user training.
