In 2015 Perfetti Van Melle Holding B.V. worked with Avelon to implement SAP Fiori to enable mobile access to workflow tasks originating in SAP ERP, aligning with an Apps Development agenda to streamline approvals and reduce administrative friction. The initial business objectives included completing workflow tasks while on the go and approving incoming invoices and purchase orders via a mobile app, plus building additional in-house apps to further automate administrative work.
Avelon developed a set of SAP Fiori apps for processing invoices, orders, contracts, travel expenses, leave, and hours, and expanded the portfolio to include HR administration applications. SAP Fiori apps were configured for simple, uncluttered screens and fast access without lengthy login, supporting typical Apps Development functional workflows such as task lists, approval flows, and mobile UI simplification.
The implementation integrated SAP Fiori directly with SAP ERP to surface workflow tasks on mobile devices, and the project used a phased rollout model starting in Benelux with plans to extend to other global operating companies. Operational scope covered finance, procurement, HR, and administrative functions across group companies, enabling users to access current tasks anytime and anywhere.
Governance focused on process standardization within and across group companies and a staged deployment plan to manage expansion. Reported benefits included anytime mobile access to SAP ERP workflows, clearer user interfaces, insight into current tasks on the go, and no additional SAP licenses required, with Avelon retained as the implementation partner for continued app development and rollout.
