In 2018 Pet Lovers Centre implemented Esker Accounts Payable to automate its invoice processing and reduce manual effort. The retailer was processing roughly 8,000 invoices per month and operating 112 stores across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam and Brunei, with purchase orders generated outside of its SAGE ERP system that made PO to invoice matching difficult.
Esker Accounts Payable was deployed as an AP Automation solution that introduced intelligent capture, touchless processing and electronic workflow capabilities to the accounts payable function. The implementation was extended to include Esker’s Purchasing automation solution, centralizing purchase request approvals and related documentation so purchase-to-pay P2P workflows could be executed from a single document repository.
A supplier portal was implemented as part of the deployment, enabling suppliers to check payment status and history directly and reducing calls to Pet Lovers Centre’s AP specialists. Operational coverage targeted core finance functions, specifically accounts payable and purchasing, and centralized document access reduced time spent locating missing documentation.
Governance shifted toward automated P2P workflow orchestration with electronic approval trails and consolidated document management. In 2014 Pet Lovers Centre implemented Unit4 Prosoft HRMS as its Core HR platform for Singapore operations. The implementation centralized payroll administration and employee master data management to support PLC group payroll processing for about 450 to 500 employees and to govern statutory submissions and payroll-related reporting.
The Unit4 Prosoft HRMS deployment covered core payroll processing, maintenance of accurate employee personal and employment data, and Leave and Time Management administration. Functional capabilities included computation of HQ commission and incentive for Areas Supervisor and Home Delivery Department, preparation of upload files for overtime and casual pay, retail commission, incentive and medical imports into payroll, processing of variable bonus at end-January and annual increments at end-March, and preparation of final payment schedules for terminated or resigned employees.
Operational integrations and touchpoints were structured around time management and statutory channels, the HR team checked the TMS for casual staff twice a month and prepared upload files for import to payroll. The implementation supported electronic submissions to government and payroll channels, including e-submission to IRAS for tax clearance of foreign employees, CPF online submission before the 14th of the following month, monthly NS pay e-submission for make-up pay claims, and IR8E annual employment income data upload.
Systems administration and governance responsibilities were formalized within Unit4 Prosoft HRMS, including creating new codes, managing leave types and user access rights, vendor liaison for system upgrades and issue resolution, and regular preparation and submission of payroll management reports. The HR function also used the system to prepare inter-billing files and cheque listings for Finance, process CPF e-applications for maternity and childcare leave claims, handle Director confirmation letters and payroll audits, participate in statutory surveys such as the Manpower Survey, and manage annual renewals for group insurance and software maintenance.
