In 2015, Ply Gem engaged staff augmentation to support Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne as part of an ERP Financial 9.2 upgrade testing effort, operating under the direction and guidance of Ply Gem management. The engagement focused on assisting and guiding Ply Gem analysts and developers through execution of their JDE XE to 9.2 upgrade, with an explicit emphasis on procurement and inventory functional validation.
The JDE team acted as Lead Distribution Consultant for Purchasing and Inventory, configuring requisition approval workflows and implementing re-approval processing and rejection notifications. The implementation included creation of Procurement and Inventory testing scripts, including Receiving scenarios, tailored for five distinct branch-plants to be executed by Ply Gem business analysts.
Testing and data validation workstreams produced specific As-Of month-end inventory reports to validate JDE XE conversion data against closing period balances during the move to 9.2. These As-Of processing reports served as conversion validation artifacts to reconcile inventory balances across the upgrade boundary for Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne.
Operational coverage included procurement, inventory, receiving and distribution functions across five branch-plants, and the team delivered Foundation training for Procurement and Inventory users and branch-plant analysts. Ply Gem Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne ERP Financial was positioned to support Procurement and Inventory business functions, with governance and execution led by internal Ply Gem management and supported by external JDE subject matter resources.
