In 2015, Powell Industries implemented Oracle E-Business Suite as its ERP Financial application. The deployment was executed under the IT Applications organization to centralize back office financial and procurement capabilities while aligning with broader enterprise application governance.
The Oracle E-Business Suite implementation delivered core financial management and procurement functionality, including requisition and purchase order processing and delegation of authority configurations. Configuration work emphasized mapping finance and procurement approval rules to jobs and positions, and instrumenting workflows to support purchase approvals and accounting integrations at the transaction level.
Integrations were explicitly implemented to synchronize the HCM Employee Profile with Oracle Identity Management, using New Hire, Transfer and Termination events to drive access policies and provisioning and to improve segregation of duties and user access reviews. The effort ensured procurement and finance processes operated in concert with existing HCM interfaces and with previously established integrations to a global applicant tracking system and third party payroll providers such as Ceridian, ADP and Iris where those interfaces remained relevant.
Operational coverage focused on Finance, Human Resources and Procurement, with downstream touch points into Sales, Project Management, Engineering and Manufacturing as supported by the IT Applications team. Governance changes prioritized access control, delegation rules, and structured user acceptance testing and change management executed by internal IT resources.

Functional responsibilities implemented in the system covered life event maintenance, organization maintenance, configuration and processing of Open Enrollment for health benefits, and creation of new benefit programs, plans and options.
Integration and interface stewardship were core operational tasks, the team monitored and troubleshot interface errors, analyzed code against Business Requirements Documents and file specifications, and worked with IT developers to resolve issues. The implementation supported downstream applications and included operational collaboration with the Payroll team to support Dayforce, establishing a payroll integration touchpoint.
Governance and process controls were formalized through creation and updates of Business Requirement Documents, development of test scripts for Regression testing and User Acceptance Testing, and maintenance of training guides and process documentation for new user and application training. The Sr. HRIS Analyst served as the functional lead for adding Contingent Workers via Manager Self-Service and coordinated with Oracle Support to apply solutions, patches, and system enhancements.
Powell Industries used Oracle E-Business Suite HRMS to centralize Core HR serviceability, supporting employee and manager self-service workflows, benefits administration, and compensation management while enabling HRIS auditing through VBA macros. Oracle E-Business Suite HRMS served as the primary Core HR application supporting Human Resources functions and integrated operationally with payroll processes.
