In 2017, Premier Inn implemented Oracle Cloud ERP, executing an Oracle ERP Fusion program that replaced Microsoft Dynamics NAV. The implementation targeted ERP Financial capabilities and was delivered within Whitbread plc's Premier Inn and Restaurants operating model.
Configuration work centered on financial reporting and standard operating processes, with project leadership documenting and validating new workflows. Project teams produced, reviewed and tested 255 SOPs for Oracle Fusion processes and managed the delivery of reporting requirements by liaising with project report writers and business process owners to achieve sign-off and implementation.
Post go-live support included analysis of reporting defects, coordination meetings with the business to prioritize and coordinate solutions, and a formal handover of reporting responsibilities outside the project deliverables. The implementation notes reference activity based in Houghton Regis and focus on embedding reporting orchestration and process documentation within the finance reporting function.
Program governance relied on weekly RAG status reporting including risks and issues mitigation to drive workstream sign-off and go-live readiness. Oracle Cloud ERP served as the central ERP Financial system, with SOP-driven process controls and structured reporting accountability handed over to business process owners.

In 2022, Premier Inn implemented Shiji Horizon Distribution as a Distribution ERP solution to support a transition to a new Central Reservation System. The first connection via Shiji Distribution Solutions went live in June 2022, and over the following two years Premier Inn expanded that footprint to 18 channels while piloting Shiji Content Hub as the source of truth for visual and descriptive content across 900+ properties in Europe.
The deployment focused on distribution and cache management capabilities within Shiji Horizon Distribution. Functional configurations included an automated City Tax calculation for German properties, a General Shared Cache to reduce backend load, and an enhanced cache solution that enabled proactive closure of products with the highest failure rates. These capabilities were configured to improve cache accuracy and accelerate search response workflows to raise Search Success Rate for availability queries.
Integrations centered on the new Central Reservation System and multi-channel connectivity, with Shiji Content Hub serving as the central content repository for property-level media and descriptions. Operational coverage included Premier Inn's UK and broader European property estate, with the distribution stack interfacing to 18 external channels and feeding availability and content consistently across those endpoints. The Shiji team provided daily monitoring, detailed reporting, and an escalation path to address issues during the CRS transition.
Governance and operational processes were adjusted to support continuous monitoring of cache health and product closure decisions based on failure rates, with reporting workflows used to prioritize remediation. Explicit outcomes reported by the parties include a Search Success Rate increase of approximately 16.23 percent from the average and 25.91 percent month over month, production growth of 153 percent year over year, and an approximate 177 percent increase in bookings in the last quarter, demonstrating the combined effect of cache improvements, automated tax processing, and centralized content management.
