PressReader implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in 2020 as its ERP Financial platform to centralize core financial and operational workflows. The implementation targeted cross-functional finance and operations processes across Sales, Marketing, IT and Accounting teams, with configuration and customization work coordinated from PressReader’s Richmond, BC operations in Canada.
The deployment used an on-premise instance of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, with system configuration, workflow rules and SDK-based customizations executed by internal Business System Analysts. Custom development work leveraged C# and JavaScript for client and server extensions, and Business Central configuration was used to model financial management, order-to-cash and purchase-to-pay workflows consistent with ERP Financial functional patterns.
Integrations were realized through Web API and RESTful endpoints, connecting Business Central to Azure hosted services, O365 and SharePoint for document management, and the Power Platform including Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI for automation and reporting. Project Operations was integrated as part of the solution set to align project accounting and operational tracking with the core ERP Financial ledger.
Governance and rollout emphasized cross-functional review cycles, written documentation for impacted teams, and stakeholder collaboration to control configuration changes and process updates. Business System Analysts facilitated requirements gathering, translated business needs into Dynamics 365 on-premise configurations and delivered targeted custom solutions while maintaining ongoing process review and documentation practices.
