| QAD | Legacy | QAD Adaptive ERP (ex MFG/PRO) | Manufacturing ERP | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2008 | 2009 |
In 2008 Qantas Airways implemented QAD Adaptive ERP (ex MFG/PRO) as its Manufacturing ERP platform. The deployment targeted Qantas Catering planning and production workflows, provisioning the ERP to support national level demand planning and centre production scheduling across multiple Q Catering ports.
QAD Adaptive ERP was configured to support demand management and forecasting, master production scheduling, material requirements planning, and production centre scheduling. The implementation emphasized first level forecast capture and validation, with the ERP hosting the driving forecasts that feed the Master Production Schedule and the Centre Production schedule, which in turn inform material, labour and scheduling requirements.
Operationally the rollout placed demand planning and forecast maintenance responsibilities in the hands of site schedulers and dedicated Demand Planning Analysts, who prepared and transferred forecasts into the forecasting and ERP environment. The solution supported the Sales and Operations Planning process by enabling forecast variance monitoring, anomaly reporting, and daily to monthly schedule adjustments across catering sites.
Governance and process changes formalized responsibilities for consulting with Catering Site Schedulers from all ports, escalating demand risks to Financial Teams for budget forecasting, and providing first level analysis of forecasting outcomes. The role of Demand Planning Analyst and oversight from the Senior Site Scheduler and Routing Specialist were embedded into the S and OP workflow to drive forecast accuracy, exception management, and continuous refinement of planning methods within QAD Adaptive ERP.
