In 2008, Quantum Energy Technologies implemented Epicor ERP as its ERP Financial system to support finance and manufacturing operations across its Australia and New Zealand footprint. Epicor ERP was deployed to centralize transactional finance and core manufacturing workflows for the small manufacturing company, with configuration focused on standard ERP Financial capabilities and modules to manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, inventory valuation and order processing.
The Epicor ERP implementation was supported on Microsoft SQL Server 2005 databases, and the IT environment hosted Epicor ERP on VMware virtual machines backed by IBM SAN storage. The deployment was accessed across an MPLS WAN private cloud linking six offices, and operational support included regular updates, upgrades and performance tuning of the Epicor ERP application and its MS SQL databases.
Operational governance and day to day management were run by the company IT function, which maintained security systems and controls, managed ICT budgets and vendor relationships, and provided application support for Epicor ERP and the ACT! CRM platform. The IT team also managed infrastructure responsibilities that enabled Epicor ERP availability, including virtualized servers, Cisco security appliances and WAN connectivity, and they oversaw rollout activities, change control and ongoing maintenance across seven interstate offices in Australia and New Zealand.

The deployment uses the WooCommerce plugin from Automattic to deliver core eCommerce capabilities including product catalog, shopping cart, checkout and order management, consistent with the eCommerce category. The implementation is sized for a small manufacturing organization and supports direct online sales workflows rather than multi-site enterprise commerce.
Operational ownership is centered in commercial and operations functions, with configurations to capture product listings, process online orders and record transactions for downstream fulfillment and invoicing processes.
