In 2008 Red Electrica implemented tt Knowledge Force as a Digital Adoption application to provide a centralized knowledge and documentation layer for the BDI GIS environment that manages the company energy park. The deployment coincided with production start-up of the BDI application and established structured access to asset data such as circuits, sections, and substations for operational teams.
The implementation configured tt Knowledge Force to serve as the authoritative technical documentation and runbook system, supporting service and maintenance workflows for BDI and related applications. Functional capabilities emphasized content repository integration, procedural documentation for field and operations staff, and in-context guidance aligned with typical Digital Adoption patterns to reduce knowledge fragmentation across systems.
Architecturally the work integrated tt Knowledge Force with the BDI application and SIGI interfaces, using Oracle 9i as the backing database and a J2EE 1.4 application tier running on UNIX. Integrations leveraged Java BAPI connectivity to SAP R/3, webservices, XML payloads and RMI patterns, with build and deployment artifacts managed via Eclipse and repository technologies such as CVS, Nexus and Alfresco, and tooling including TOAD and Absolute FTP.
Governance and rollout were led through formal project scoping, technical and functional design phases, and service and maintenance handovers, with responsibilities including development and execution of the interface between SIGI SAP R/3 data stores and the BDI environment. The engagement emphasized operationalizing knowledge assets within tt Knowledge Force to support ongoing application maintenance and GIS-driven asset management workflows.
