In 2017, Renew India implemented OpenText Vendor Invoice Management as a focused AP Automation initiative for accounts payable processing. The deployment was executed under the companys Digital Initiatives program and led by the IT Applications team, addressing invoice to payment workflows for a 4600-employee utilities organization headquartered in Gurgaon, India.
OpenText Vendor Invoice Management was configured to provide core invoice capture and workflow routing, with functional capabilities emphasized on critical date capture to surface bottlenecks and overall turnaround time visibility. The implementation included automation of payment advice delivery using email and SMS through the OpenText Vendor Invoice Management platform, and design of a Note for Approval process to support procurement steps after vendor selection.
The VIM rollout was coordinated alongside parallel projects including Salesforce CRM implementation, Robotic Process Automation for MIS reporting, and vendor rating and evaluation workstreams in SAP and SharePoint, enabling tighter handoffs across procurement and finance. Operational coverage centered on procurement and finance departments, with the IT Applications team performing day to day monitoring and serving in an IT business integration role to align VIM workflows with adjacent systems and reporting processes.
Governance was formalized through stakeholder and vendor management practices, budget control and SLA arrangements driven by the Deputy Manager IT Applications role. Process improvements explicitly targeted streamlining the invoice to payment cycle, capturing critical dates to highlight bottlenecks and TAT, and automating payment advice communications using OpenText Vendor Invoice Management.

| SAP | Legacy | SAP Manufacturing Execution | Manufacturing Execution System | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2021 | 2021 |
In 2021, Renew India implemented SAP Manufacturing Execution to formalize production execution and shop floor control under a Manufacturing Execution System framework. The SAP Manufacturing Execution rollout was executed in an SAP S/4 HANA context to align production planning and execution with enterprise planning processes.
Configuration focused on SAP PP and MES-aligned capabilities, including production order lifecycle, order types and dependent parameters, scheduling profiles, confirmation parameterization, time ticket confirmations, capacity planning and production scheduling profiles. The implementation included master data work streams for Material Master records, BOMs, Work Centers, Routings, standard values, activity types, planned and production orders, and batch job orchestration to support MRP and both Make to Stock and Make to Order planning strategies.
Integrations were established with core SAP modules explicitly referenced in project requirements, including SD, MM, CO and QM, and reporting interfaces leveraged BI/BO and Fiori applications for operations visibility. Operational coverage targeted manufacturing and operations functions with downstream impacts on supply chain, procurement and quality processes, and the program was sized for an enterprise of roughly 4,600 employees in Renew India’s utilities and renewable energy operations.
Governance and delivery followed a full lifecycle project model encompassing requirements analysis, prototyping, configuration, testing and documentation, with ongoing support tasks for troubleshooting and process redesign. The implementation mandated compliance and data reporting standards development, and the team leveraged Fiori and BI/BO to operationalize reporting and shop floor data consumption across manufacturing, supply chain and finance stakeholders.
