| Oracle | Legacy | Oracle E-Business Suite | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2012 | 2012 |
In 2012, Rexel Australia implemented Oracle E-Business Suite as an ERP Financial solution for its distribution operations. The deployment used Oracle R12 and was managed as a $14M IT project, with explicit focus on centralizing financial close and month end processes across the finance organization.
The Oracle E-Business Suite implementation covered core financial modules including General Ledger maintenance and reconciliation, control account and sub ledger reconciliations, month end accruals, rebate accounting, margin analysis, and fixed assets management. Fixed assets workflows included a Capex form, month end additions and disposals, depreciation accruals and reconciliation back to the General Ledger, supporting standard ERP Financial accounting and reconciliation cycles.
Integrations and operational interfaces were targeted at operational reporting and group consolidation. The team prepared and exported month end data into the Group Accounting package SAP - Magnitude to report month end numbers to headquarters in France, and worked with the banking team and Treasury on cash flow forecasting and on time bank closure processes. Property and lease information was captured in a centralized property access database through collaboration with the property leasing manager to ensure accurate lease accounting inputs.
Governance and process change accompanied the technical rollout, with finance owners participating in process drafting, testing and user training through go live. Supplier and customer rebate management was formalized inside Oracle, including setup of rebate contracts, approval workflows and loading of SKU level rates to compute true gross margin, supported by finance business partnering with sourcing to ensure timely contract renewals. Daily operational controls included running Oracle sales reports for comparative analysis of actual sales and margin with budget and monthly forecast.
Operational scope spanned finance, treasury, sourcing and property teams and included month end BAS preparation and support for year end tax audits. The implementation explicitly supported month end reporting to HO in France and ongoing cash flow management, and the project budget of $14M is recorded as the IT investment for the Oracle R12 ERP Financial rollout.
