In 2020 Rhaetian Railway implemented Basware AP Automation to consolidate and streamline accounts payable across the organization, deploying an AP Automation platform to standardize invoice, purchase order, and expense handling. The program was initiated to centralize financial operations for a company that processes roughly 35,000 supplier invoices annually and operates a complex, multi-functional transport and tourism business in Switzerland, executed in partnership with Arcplace and Basware.
Basware AP Automation was configured to provide e-invoice capture, automated matching, and exceptions handling, with the deployment focused on invoice processing, purchase order reconciliation, and expense workflow automation. The implementation integrated with RhB’s archiving and scanning systems and was structured to interface with its customized ERP landscape, enabling automated data capture and routing, invoice validation, and high rate of straight-through processing.
Governance and operational rollout established a company-wide uniform digital process for supplier invoices, purchase orders, and expenses, shifting approvals and exception workflows into the Basware driven AP flow. Operational coverage centered on the finance and accounts payable teams, and the program achieved over 90 percent e-invoice auto-matching while improving AP team productivity, delivering a centralized AP Automation capability for Rhaetian Railway.
