In 2014, RICE Education implemented Oracle E-Business Suite, deploying Oracle EBS R12 as the core ERP Financial application across all group institutions. The implementation covered multiple legal entities within the RICE GROUP and was overseen by the Vice President Finance based in Kolkata, who led an eight-person finance team and reported to the CEO. The rollout aligned with the group's franchise expansion across West Bengal and PAN India, centralizing financial control and statutory reporting across institutions.
Oracle E-Business Suite R12 was configured to deliver core financial modules including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Management, Fixed Assets, and tax engine configuration to support Goods and Services Tax processing. Financial reporting workflows were aligned to Indian accounting standards AS, supporting preparation of financial statements, cash flow management, and annual statutory audits. The ERP implementation incorporated departmental MIS formats and embedded controls to monitor payables, receivables, and working capital management.
The EBS deployment was integrated with the group's payroll software and Microsoft Dynamics Navision 2016, enabling payroll posting and selective master data exchange across systems within the application landscape. Operational coverage included finance controllership across all group legal entities, coordination with external auditors and tax consultants, and interaction with credit rating agencies for financing activities. The system supported processes related to fundraising and working capital administration as managed by the finance leadership.
Governance changes introduced an internal audit system with scope defined with external auditors, and department-level MIS adherence was tied to employee performance appraisal processes. Explicit outcomes recorded in the implementation included successful completion of corporate restructuring exercises, a group-wide GST implementation, and full deployment of Oracle E-Business Suite R/12 across the group's institutions. These measures established standardized reporting, centralized control, and formalized tax and audit governance for the finance function.
