In 2022 Roche implemented SAP Entitlement Management and SAP Subscription Billing to build a software monetization platform in Basel, Switzerland. The implementation targeted digital subscription services in the Subscription and Recurring Billing category and automated core commerce workflows including order-to-cash, provisioning and entitlement fulfilment.
The deployment combined SAP Entitlement Management with SAP Subscription Billing to centralize entitlement data and instrument automated provisioning across subscription products, establishing a single entitlement service for downstream fulfillment. Functional capabilities implemented included entitlement lifecycle management, subscription order orchestration, billing event generation and fulfillment triggers to support digital service activation and access control.
The program was executed as an agile greenfield project with Accenture as the implementation partner, reaching an initial go-live in 4.5 months across three countries and scaling to 16 countries within a year. Architecture and rollout emphasized a centralized entitlement visibility layer to support cross-country provisioning and consistent order-to-cash flows while enabling iterative regional deployments.
Operational scope included commercial and technical teams responsible for subscription billing, provisioning and revenue operations, with governance oriented around sprint-based delivery and phased country rollouts. The implementation delivered faster provisioning and centralized entitlement visibility as stated by the program documentation, and established a repeatable platform foundation for expanding subscription services.
