The Maximo configuration enables devices to be connected to the wider IoT landscape and for sensor and telemetry data to be ingested into SA Water systems. For all IIoT device configuration changes the organization requires a SCADA Change Request and an Outage Notification, linking Maximo registration and change control to SCADA operational processes.
Governance was formalized around the registration convention and a change control workflow, requiring registration in IBM Maximo prior to provisioning and mandating SCADA approvals for configuration changes that could impact outages. This approach ties Enterprise Asset Management policy to operational and SCADA governance, aligning asset records, connectivity controls and change management across SA Water operations.
