Meridian Energy | Utilities | 936 | $2.9B | New Zealand | IBM | IBM Maximo | Enterprise Asset Management | 2023 |
In 2023, Meridian Energy,Ltd. engaged Maxpros Australia to upgrade and extend IBM Maximo within its Generation business. The engagement deployed IBM Maximo as an Enterprise Asset Management platform, executing an upgrade from Maximo 7.6.1 to Maximo 9.0 and rolling out Maximo Mobile to field crews to unify work execution and mobile asset interactions.
The implementation focused on core Enterprise Asset Management capabilities, including location and asset management, work order and resource management, scheduling, inventory controls, investigations, and health and safety activities. Project teams defined future state business processes and designed cross team workflows to standardize work, asset and data management across multiple functional teams in Generation.
Maxpros Australia led configuration and delivery, and the program established a Jira Zephyr squad for test execution and defect tracking during customer verification and user acceptance testing. The delivery model included a documented test strategy, UAT plans, daily test reporting and test exit reports, with workstreams coordinated between Christchurch based resources and remote contributors supporting the Generation operational footprint.
Governance activities included change management planning, business readiness execution and post go live support to drive adoption and stabilize operations. The program supported the successful upgrade to Maximo 9.0 and the rollout of Maximo Mobile across the Generation business, while maintaining structured testing and verification controls throughout the implementation.

Port Taranaki | Transportation | 100 | $34M | New Zealand | IBM | IBM Maximo | Enterprise Asset Management | 2022 |
In 2022 Port Taranaki implemented IBM Maximo as its Enterprise Asset Management solution, initiating a portwide program to centralize maintenance workflows and asset cost visibility. The IBM Maximo deployment was delivered with Maxpros Australia and targeted both marine and land asset portfolios within the port operations.
The implementation configured IBM Maximo as a computerised maintenance management system, CMMS, embedding preventive maintenance scheduling, work order management, and asset register capabilities. Port Taranaki used IBM Maximo to formalise maintenance processes, capture labour and plant usage patterns, and extend visibility of asset-level cost data across operations.
IBM Maximo was integrated with the ports Oracle FMIS and a bespoke labour and plant usage system to synchronize financial postings and operational usage records. The deployment was rolled out from management through to front line staff, enabling the same asset management workflows to be executed by planners, supervisors, and technicians across land and marine sites.
Governance changes removed paper-based work practices and established system driven work assignment and inspection workflows, shifting maintenance activities from reactive to more proactive regimes. The implementation improved transparency of land and marine asset costs and generated crossfunctional efficiency by linking maintenance execution in IBM Maximo to financial and labour systems.

Santos | Oil, Gas and Chemicals | 3958 | $5.4B | Australia | IBM | IBM Maximo | Enterprise Asset Management | 2020 |
In 2020, Santos implemented IBM Maximo, an Enterprise Asset Management application, to centralize asset and maintenance management across its asset-intensive operations in Australia. Maxpros Australia served as the implementation partner and brought experience from Maximo installations across Australia and New Zealand with clients such as Alstom, Crown Resorts, Melbourne Water and Sydney Water Corporation, supporting the Santos deployment and rollout activities.
The IBM Maximo deployment was configured around standard Enterprise Asset Management functional modules, including asset registry and hierarchy, work management and scheduling, preventive maintenance planning, inventory and spares management, procurement workflow links and inspection and compliance records. Configuration emphasized work order lifecycle orchestration, condition-based monitoring inputs and mobile field service enablement to align field technicians with centralized planning functions.
Integrations focused on operational maintenance processes and enterprise workflows rather than named third party systems, linking IBM Maximo to maintenance planning, spares replenishment and engineering change workflows to support operations, maintenance, engineering and supply chain teams across Santos Australian sites. IBM Maximo was positioned as the authoritative asset master system for maintenance execution and work order orchestration.
Governance for the rollout included centralized asset master data controls, work order approval gates and role based access controls mapped to maintenance and operations roles, with Maxpros Australia leading configuration, testing and a phased rollout. Change management concentrated on standardizing work management and inspection processes to create consistent operational workflows across impacted business functions.
