The implementation covered business unit finance, program managers and executive management workflows, aligning Deltek CostPoint transaction processing with contract accounting and procurement controls used across the organization. Governance reforms included establishing a formal FP&A cadence, defined responsibilities for month end cost accruals and revenue recognition, and training and mentorship structures for finance analysts to sustain accurate reporting and forecast discipline. Deltek CostPoint enabled standardized financial workflows for the business unit while providing the controls and reporting necessary to support audit, compliance and regular operational reviews.

Architectural design work focused on SQL Server 2008 R2 database consolidation planning for approximately 400 databases, and the SME lead was responsible for the configuration and ongoing maintenance of a Microsoft 2008 R2 cluster for SQL Server 2008 R2. Integrations and operational coverage addressed SharePoint content databases explicitly, with the team working closely with Microsoft consultants to optimize and tune all databases including SharePoint content databases. The implementation also evaluated new data sources for adherence to the organization quality standards and ease of integration by enforcing database security regulations and integration best practices consistent with Analytics and BI workflows. Governance and controls were formalized through implementation of DISA STIGs for SQL Server 2000, 2005 and 2008 R2 and development of consolidation strategies to move databases currently using SQL Server 2000 and 2005 onto SQL Server 2008 R2. The SQL Server SME role encompassed operational governance, architectural layout decisions, and coordination with application development and vendor consultants to standardize database configuration and security across the environment.
