Thomson Reuters Legacy Thomson Reuters OneSource Tax Provision Tax Management ERP Financial Management n/a 2019 2019
In 2019, Samsung US implemented Thomson Reuters OneSource Tax Provision for Tax Management across Samsung Electronics America and its subsidiaries. The deployment established a centralized tax provision environment to support consolidated federal tax return processes and to provide a single system for tax provisioning and effective tax rate calculation across corporate and subsidiary entities. Thomson Reuters OneSource Tax Provision was configured to manage core Tax Management capabilities including consolidated tax provision and ETR development, coordinated intercompany tax sharing workflows, consolidated tax credits accounting, and support for federal and state compliance processes. The system was used to oversee both consolidated federal filings and the review of individual company federal and state returns, while supporting the forecast and financial reporting cycle through provision calculations and reserve entries. Operational coverage explicitly included Samsung Electronics America and its subsidiaries in the United States, with OneSource used to coordinate the federal tax sharing of intercompany billing among subsidiaries and to centralize consolidation of the federal tax return. A separate BNA FA fixed assets implementation was maintained to house asset and depreciation data used by finance and tax staff, and OneSource was the central tool for provisioning and consolidated tax accounting while tax staff continued to manage state estimated and extension payment reviews. Governance and process changes accompanied the rollout, including a streamlined directory system for consistent file storage and review, formalized review cycles for state and federal filings, and ongoing process enhancement projects to reduce reliance on spreadsheet driven workflows. Operational responsibility rested with the internal tax team, including management of two staff, who coordinated closely with business contacts for forecasted taxable income and ETR reasonableness, and who maintained consolidated ownership of tax credits and federal filing consolidation using Thomson Reuters OneSource Tax Provision.

HireRight Legacy HireRight Employment Background Checks BackGround Screening HCM n/a 2017 2017
In 2017, Samsung US implemented HireRight Employment Background Checks for BackGround Screening to support HR Operations during the candidate onboarding lifecycle. The implementation was administered from the San Jose, California HR operations team and was embedded into offer through first day workflows to ensure background screening was sequentially tied to hire completion. HireRight Employment Background Checks was configured to be initiated from the HR onboarding queue, with HR operations staff initiating checks and tracking status as part of the hire completion process in Workday. New hire paperwork was issued via DocuSign, uploaded into Workday, and I 9 verification was completed through E Verify, creating a coordinated sequence of screening, documentation, and hire activation. Operational coverage included HR operations, payroll and benefits touchpoints, new hire orientation, and direct coordination with IT, Security Badging, and Facilities to ensure seat assignment and first day setup. The workflow emphasized task tracking, candidate follow up to drive completion of screening and onboarding tasks, and a single point of contact model for new hires before and after their start date. Governance changes accompanied the deployment, with improvement of processes, creation of standard operating procedures and a training manual, and definition of roles and responsibilities for teams involved in onboarding and offboarding. Those documented controls formalized the integration of HireRight Employment Background Checks into Samsung US onboarding operations and operationalized cross functional handoffs.
