In 2009, Sara Lee piloted and moved to SAP BusinessObjects Explorer to support process-improvement analytics and finance reporting. The implementation is described as an SAP BusinessObjects Explorer deployment within the Analytics and BI category, oriented toward cross-regional analytical needs including Europe and focused on finance and operations stakeholders.
The pilot implementation indexed very large data sets, cited as hundreds of millions of rows, to enable rapid ad-hoc visibility and interactive exploration. Functional capabilities emphasized in the deployment included self-service ad-hoc query, interactive visualization and faceted search style exploration to accelerate what-if analysis for purchase-to-pay and order-to-cash workflows.
