Epicor Legacy Epicor Manage 2000 Manufacturing ERP ERP Services and Operations n/a 2015 2016
In 2015 Schwaab implemented Epicor Manage 2000 as its Manufacturing ERP, deploying a core application running on a UniData database and a separate reporting environment administered through SSMS on Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2. The deployment emphasized supporting both traditional and ecommerce transaction flows while retaining compatibility with existing reporting and shipping toolsets. Schwaab is a United States based manufacturer with a compact operational footprint, and the implementation was scoped to support finance, sales, production, marketing, and executive stakeholders. Epicor Manage 2000 was configured to manage order processing and EDI workflow management and troubleshooting, and to feed a SQL data warehouse used for downstream reporting. Functional capabilities implemented included flat-file import processes, automated tax rate uploads for finance, and integration points to business intelligence tooling. Reporting and analytics were provided by IBM Cognos PowerPlay, Transformer, and Cognos Impromptu 7.5 producing Cognos cubes and Impromptu reports consumed by finance and operations. The implementation integrated with operational peripherals and middleware explicitly listed in project artifacts, including ArchiType and Pitney Bowes SendSuite Live for shipping and fulfillment flows, and relied on SQL and SSMS for data warehousing and administrative tasks. EDI routing and workflow automation were emphasized to ensure ecommerce and traditional transactions were processed into and through Epicor Manage 2000 and the supporting SQL data warehouse. Project work involved cross-functional coordination with the CEO, Finance, Marketing, Sales, and Production teams to align ERP behavior with business processes. Governance activities included requirements gathering from Finance for an automated flat-file upload of tax rates, testing of new screens and functionality, and liaison with an external consultant for the programmed changes. The automated tax-rate upload into Epicor Manage 2000 explicitly freed up more than 8 accounting hours per month and eliminated issues caused by outdated tax rates not being updated in a timely manner. ERP analysis and configuration work also supported Schwaab becoming a certified Amazon Prime vendor through targeted changes to order and fulfillment processes. Ongoing responsibilities included EDI workflow troubleshooting and maintenance of the Cognos reporting ecosystem.
