Epson japan implemented SEI QuickSolution in 2019 to establish a companywide information sharing and search platform. The deployment used SEI QuickSolution in the Application, Web and Enterprise Search category and was delivered by Sumitomo Electric Information Systems, targeting document and knowledge management for R&D, design and manufacturing in Japan.
The implementation focused on enterprise indexing and search capabilities, ingesting and indexing approximately 100TB of content and about 160 million files. Configuration emphasized full text indexing, metadata extraction, relevance tuning and a centralized search layer to support high volume cross repository queries and document retrieval workflows.
SEI QuickSolution was connected to existing file servers, SharePoint and document management systems to enable cross queries across repositories, removing manual search silos. Operational coverage was companywide in Japan with primary use by R&D, design and manufacturing teams to surface engineering documents, specifications and process knowledge.
The rollout enabled broader cross departmental knowledge reuse and delivered approximately 3x improvement in document search efficiency, reducing average search time to about one third. Governance and operationalization centered on a centralized index and search access model to standardize information discovery across business functions without reference to any prior system name.
