In 2019 Selex ES implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its core ERP Financial platform. The deployment centered on an S4 HANA environment using Core Data Services for semantic modeling and HANA Studio for database development, with AWS used for cloud infrastructure components and Solution Manager for lifecycle management.
SAP S/4 HANA was configured to support standard ERP Financial capabilities including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting, controlling and period end financial close workflows. The implementation leveraged SAP S/4 HANA native reporting and CDS views for embedded analytics, while Lumira Designer and Visual BI Lumira Components were used to build operational dashboards.
The architecture integrated SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Digital Boardroom for executive reporting alongside SAP BO / SAP BI4.2 components, including Web Intelligence, IDT, Analysis for OLAP, Design Studio, Dashboards, Analysis for Office and SAP Lumira for broader BI coverage. Data orchestration and ETL were handled through SAP Data Services and SQL interfaces, with connectivity maintained to third party visualization tools such as Power BI and Cognos, and administration handled via CMC.
Operational governance emphasized centralized financial process control and consolidated reporting across corporate finance and controlling functions, with Solution Manager driving change control and application lifecycle activities. The implementation combined S/4 HANA transactional processing with a layered analytics fabric, using SAP Data Services and CDS to feed consistent financial and management reporting.
