In 2020, Sezzle implemented Tipalti Invoice Management and Bill Processing System, a cloud-based AP Automation solution to centralize end-to-end accounts payable and global payments. The deployment targeted Sezzle's finance and treasury operations during rapid company growth, supporting international operations including new offices in Germany and India.
The Tipalti Invoice Management and Bill Processing System was configured to automate vendor onboarding, invoice capture and processing, configurable approval workflows, scheduled payments, and automated reconciliation. The vendor onboarding capability collected tax forms and payment details to standardize supplier records and reduce the incidence of duplicate invoices and overpayments.
Tipalti was integrated with Sezzle's Intacct ERP, with vendor records and bills writing over seamlessly and payment instructions flowing automatically from the ERP into the AP Automation platform. Sezzle eliminated manual exports and manual ACH file construction by scheduling payment runs inside Tipalti, enabling automated domestic and cross-border payables orchestration.
Governance and workflow restructuring centralized vendor communications and invoice routing, which removed the need for manual chasing by department managers and a dedicated accountant who previously spent 20 hours a week on approvals. Reconciliation moved from an eight day manual effort to an automated reconciliation process, and treasury now funds scheduled payment runs inside the Tipalti environment without end of month manual modifications.
The implementation delivered explicit operational outcomes reported by Sezzle, including saving 1,700 hours per year on invoice processing, eliminating 75 percent of accounts payable workload, and preventing the need to hire additional finance staff. Sezzle described the Intacct and Tipalti integration as painless, and treasury leadership redirected time toward forecasting, managing currency exposure, and strengthening partner relationships.
