In 2018, Shake Shack implemented NCR Voyix Pulse in the Analytics and BI category as a SaaS-based mobile analytics engine to support restaurant operations and remote decision making. The deployment used smartphone clients on iOS and Android and was integrated with NCR restaurant point-of-sale platforms to provide up-to-the-second operational visibility across Shack operations.
NCR Voyix Pulse was configured to deliver real-time performance metrics and push notifications, with functional capabilities that include segmented operational views such as voids and comps, net sales by hour, employee performance tracking, and overtime alerts. The application’s artificial intelligence analytics layer ingests POS operational data to surface anomalous patterns and prioritized alerts, and it exposes transactional detail including the guest check for a recently seated or paid customer.
Operational ownership sat with Shake Shack’s information systems and restaurant operations teams who used NCR Voyix Pulse to review live sales, manage labor in real time, and monitor voids and comps as potential indicators of training or process issues. The integration with NCR POS platforms allowed mobile access to every important data element regardless of operator location, enabling immediate operational interventions.
Governance and daily workflows were adjusted to incorporate mobile-first alerts and hands-on monitoring, with operators receiving timed notifications and managers using the app to make on-shift adjustments. Shake Shack adopted NCR Voyix Pulse as a continuous operational intelligence layer to support real-time decision making that the vendor and operator documentation state can directly affect day-to-day results.
