Oracle Legacy Oracle E-Business Suite Discrete Manufacturing Execution Manufacturing Execution System ERP Services and Operations n/a 2017 2017
In 2017 Sleep Number Corporation implemented Oracle E-Business Suite Discrete Manufacturing Execution as a Manufacturing Execution System to formalize production shop floor controls and align manufacturing workflows with broader supply chain planning. The implementation focused on discrete manufacturing visibility for work in process, finished goods and inventory accountability across manufacturing operations, and it positioned Oracle E-Business Suite Discrete Manufacturing Execution as the core system for manufacturing execution and shop floor management. The deployment included configuration of Oracle Discrete Manufacturing modules along with BOM and Inventory module design, and the program produced Functional Design Documents and Technical Design Documents to define process flows and standard operating procedures. Constraint based planning was established in Oracle ASCP to smooth production sequencing and improve the MRP process, and unit functional testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing were executed with manufacturing super users to validate system behavior prior to go live. Integrations and adjacent capabilities were a deliberate part of the architecture, Oracle E-Business Suite Discrete Manufacturing Execution was integrated with Advanced Demand Planning workflows through an Anaplan data integration to retire external spreadsheets and manual processes, and KPI and operational reporting was developed using BI and PowerBI to increase operations visibility. Utilities from More4Apps were deployed to streamline Item Life Cycle Management and master data maintenance within EBS R12, enabling faster master data updates and improved agility for the Item Life Cycle Management team. Governance emphasized supply chain alignment and readiness, Supply Chain Business Intelligence power users led test case development, testing execution and training preparation, and Oracle UPK based training materials were created to accelerate shop floor user adoption. The program continued as an ongoing partnership with SCM to advance processes and enable capabilities in technology, with stated outcomes including improved forecasting process time and accuracy, increased operational visibility to manage productivity, and reduced reliance on outside applications and manual workstreams.
