In 2010, Smiles Fidelidade S.A. implemented Oracle E-Business Suite as its ERP Financial platform to segregate web airline ticketing, billing, and accounting systems and to enable the Smiles department spin-off from GOL. The deployment focused on provisioning Oracle E-Business Suite for core billing and accounting capabilities while isolating ticketing process flows from the airline operational stack.
The Oracle E-Business Suite implementation emphasized billing and accounting modules, with configuration to support accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger workflows consistent with ERP Financial functional patterns. Solution design included segregation of transaction streams originating from the web airline ticketing environment, and orchestration of financial posting and reconciliation processes inside Oracle E-Business Suite.
Integrations were a central element of the program, with a major Navitaire reservation system upgrade managed as part of the broader IT workstream. The Navitaire upgrade spanned 11 months, upgraded 65 interfaces of which 25 were classified as high complexity, and touched nine business areas. A separate implementation of Siebel Loyalty for point and mileage management was delivered in 13 months, producing 18 interfaces, eight identified as high complexity, including billing, accounting, authentication, and ticket issuance integrations.
Program governance and rollout were led by the acting IT leader and project manager, reporting to the vice president and CIO for the reservation upgrade and to Smiles leadership for the loyalty implementation. The same leadership contributed to planning and creating Smiles future IT department, enabling Smiles S.A. to start operations in January 2013 and supporting the company through its April 2013 IPO.

In 2012 Smiles Fidelidade S.A. deployed Oracle OBIEE as its Analytics and BI platform to centralize reporting across its loyalty and travel ecosystem. The Oracle OBIEE implementation was positioned to consume transactional feeds from Smiles web and mobile channels and backend systems that support airline ticketing and loyalty transactions.
The implementation included design and configuration of subject areas, a centralized semantic layer, presentation catalog and operational dashboards for recurring reporting. ETL feeds and data models were configured to support point accrual and redemption analytics, customer segmentation, and revenue reconciliation tied to billing and accounting systems. Oracle OBIEE was used to deliver both ad hoc analysis and scheduled scorecards linked to fraud detection workflows.
OBIEE was integrated with the Smiles Service Bus to orchestrate data flows from the Newskies airline ticketing process and Navitaire supplier, the Smiles club transaction engine for buying reactivating and point transfers, and partner accrual and redemption interfaces for AirFrance/KLM, Delta Airlines, Qatar Airways and Itaú Bank. Connectivity extended to billing, accounting and fraud prevention systems so analytics could reconcile partner accruals and redemptions and support finance and partner management functions. Reporting outputs were consumed across the Smiles web and mobile-site channels as well as internal operational teams.
Implementation and rollout ranged from traditional project management to agile methodologies depending on product needs, enabling incremental delivery of reports and dashboards. Governance focused on controlled RPD management, change control for subject areas, and a release cadence aligned with partner interface updates and billing cycles.
