In 2014, Sonus Networks implemented Oracle E-Business Suite as its core ERP Financial application. The program was executed under a centralized Business Application Architecture model that included Oracle R12 EBS and Salesforce.com, with governance led by a team of five managers and twenty seasoned professionals and an assigned multi million dollar annual budget. Oracle E-Business Suite implementation focused on standard ERP Financial capabilities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets and cash management, alongside order to cash workflows to support revenue and billing processes. Configuration work emphasized automation of financial close tasks, intercompany accounting controls and chart of accounts standardization to support consolidated financial reporting and channel billing complexity. The program included a formal disaster recovery architecture for key applications, the DR plan was tested annually with a full cutover to a DR site, and operational coverage spanned finance, sales operations and channel management. Governance combined a Business Application Architecture council with process improvement methods, Six Sigma DMAIC fundamentals were incorporated into project and process frameworks to rewire processes needed to transform from a direct sales model into a two tier channel distribution model. The rollout emphasized phased process change, application configuration alignment to channel workflows and ongoing governance by the application leadership team, and the company was recognized with a 31st place ranking in the 2015 InformationWeek Elite 100 list of top technology innovators.
