In 2020, Southern Company Gas implemented Oracle Cloud ERP, deploying Oracle Cloud ERP as its ERP Financial platform to unify finance and accounting across the enterprise. The program brought all Southern Company subsidiaries onto a common ERP and established a single financial processing environment for consolidated accounting and reporting.
The implementation focused on core ERP Financial capabilities, including general ledger consolidation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets management, intercompany accounting and financial reporting. Configuration work emphasized a centralized chart of accounts, shared fiscal calendars and standardized accounting rules to enable consistent month end close and statutory reporting across subsidiaries. Automation of transactional posting and period close sequencing was implemented to standardize workflows.
Operational scope covered finance and accounting organizations across all subsidiaries, aligning transactional processing, period close and financial controls under the Oracle Cloud ERP environment. The deployment organized data flows for consolidated journals and intercompany reconciliations to support enterprise level financial consolidation and auditability.
An ERP Integration Lead assumed a lead finance and accounting full end to end project lifecycle role beginning in February 2020, driving configuration, integration touch points and rollout governance across subsidiaries. The project successfully brought all Southern Company subsidiaries onto a common Oracle Cloud ERP instance and instituted centralized governance for accounting policies and close processes.

| Epicor | Legacy | Epicor Prophet 21 | Distribution ERP | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2018 | 2018 |
Southern Company Gas implemented Epicor Prophet 21 in 2018 as its Distribution ERP platform, supported by a focused SQL Server Database Developer and DBA engagement in Atlanta, Georgia from February 2018 to May 2018. The implementation work centered on production database stabilization and integration of Prophet 21 processing routines, including export invoice files for customers and export of new product records to external websites, with ongoing audits of Prophet 21 processes for errors and incomplete actions.
Configuration work included administration of MS SQL Server 2016, 2014, 2012, 2008 R2 and 2008 instances, active passive clusters, and mixed 32 bits and 64 bit server environments. High availability and synchronization patterns were implemented using log shipping, Always On Availability Groups, mirroring, and transactional replication to support load balancing. The team designed and tuned ETL frameworks with SSIS, deployed SSIS packages to the file system and SQL Server, and developed SSRS business reports to surface Prophet 21 transaction and master data to management.
Integrations executed as part of the Epicor Prophet 21 deployment included SSIS driven data feeds to external websites, export pipelines for invoicing consumers or downstream systems, and ETL based data migration using BCP and DTS. Operational tooling and change management tied SQL Server reporting services to TFS, and routine use of Redgate tooling supported data export, purge, and production database maintenance activities. Authentication and security controls were enforced through Active Directory fixes, SQL Server principals, role based permissions, and column level encryption for sensitive fields.
Database governance and operational processes were formalized around health checks and performance monitoring, using DBCC commands, dynamic management views, SQL Profiler, execution plans, index tuning, and Windows Performance Monitor to identify bottlenecks, deadlocks, and long running queries. The team performed table partitioning, created complex T SQL procedures and views, and implemented securable, permission and role policies to align database access with operational workflows for finance, billing and product management functions that interact with the Distribution ERP.
Deployment architecture emphasized clustered SQL Server resources, event and error monitoring through Event Viewer and SQL error logs, and regular maintenance tasks such as export and purge of older production data. Epicor Prophet 21 was operated in an environment supported by SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, SharePoint and Windows Server platforms, with explicit DBA responsibilities for troubleshooting, performance tuning and ongoing auditing of Prophet 21 processes and data feeds.

In 2021 Southern Company Gas deployed Cisco Webex Meetings on its public website. Cisco Webex Meetings is an Audio Video and Web Conferencing application used to surface meeting access and event join flows directly from the corporate site, enabling browser-based joining, hosted meeting orchestration, and cross-platform client access. The deployment indicates a cloud-hosted conferencing architecture with embedded meeting widgets or published join URLs that connect web visitors to scheduled and ad hoc sessions.
The implementation supports business functions including customer engagement, corporate communications, and distributed team collaboration, providing audio, video, and screen sharing capabilities consistent with Audio Video and Web Conferencing workflows. Operational administration is handled through Cisco Webex Meetings management consoles alongside web content publishing processes, aligning meeting lifecycle controls, user access provisioning, and meeting moderation with site governance. The rollout centers on web-based meeting delivery and administrative controls that enable scheduled and ad hoc sessions to be published from the Southern Company Gas website.
