In 2015, Staples Europe B.V. implemented SAP Business Suite to consolidate finance and compliance functions across its European operations, with an explicit focus on ERP Financial controls and reporting. The program used the UK PCI blueprint as the starting point for a broader European PCI Compliance Program and included a mandated delivery of the Report of Compliancy ROC for the UK prior to April 1st 2016.
The SAP Business Suite deployment was organized as a multi-system SAP landscape spanning eight SAP systems, supporting core ERP Financial workflows including general ledger processing, accounts payable and receivable flows, procurement invoicing and statutory compliance reporting. Configuration work emphasized transaction processing consistency, chart of accounts alignment and automated financial posting rules consistent with ERP Financial best practices. The project leveraged application management principles grounded in relational database and client server architectures to stabilize interfaces and batch processing.
Integrations were explicitly scoped to attach a SharePoint 2013 server repository for evidence management, traceability and annual reporting of compliance artifacts, and to accommodate negotiated new payment solutions across European operations. The rollout covered Staples storefronts, call center operations and online business channels within the European region, and extended to supply chain nodes where payment and invoicing processes intersected with procurement. Coordination was required to align SAP configuration and external payment workflows with local HRM, TAX and Legal requirements for each jurisdiction.
Governance centered on embedding a compliancy structure into business processes, instituting controls for PCI scope reduction and a reporting cadence tied to the ROC timeline. The program set cross functional governance involving Finance, Compliance, IT and facilitating departments to update procedures, training and local rule interpretation while using the SharePoint 2013 server as the authoritative repository for compliance documentation and annual updates.

In 2015, Staples Europe B.V. implemented Oracle Cloud HCM. The deployment used Oracle Cloud HCM as the Core HR platform to centralize foundational employee data and core human capital processes for the Netherlands-based legal entity with approximately 6,500 employees.
Hands-on implementation activities included design, presentation and configuration of foundation tables, end-to-end core HCM hire to retire processes, role-based security configuration, workforce administration, absence management, performance management and learning management, aligning with Core HR functional workflows. The implementation leveraged HCM Data Loader for bulk data uploads and staged data onboarding during configuration and initial go-live.
The solution followed a cloud SaaS configuration model with configuration-driven setup and security domains to enforce role separation and administrative privileges. Operational scope emphasized HR and People Operations ownership for hire to retire lifecycle events, with governance established around security roles, configurable business rules and administrative workflows to sustain ongoing workforce administration.
