In 2017, StepStone Services implemented the SkillPanel Platform, then known as DevSkiller, to remove manual bottlenecks from technical screening and automate candidate assessment workflows. The implementation targeted recruitment and technical interview teams within StepStone Services in Poland, addressing a screening process that relied on emailed practical tasks and pen and paper exercises which required intensive recruiter attention.
The SkillPanel Platform was used to establish automated test invitations and a centralized task library for languages, frameworks, and libraries, aligning with Talent Assessment,Skills Intelligence functional workflows. Configuration emphasized candidate-facing timed tasks, automated result capture, and role-aligned question sets so hiring teams could assess coding skills consistently across openings.
Operational changes centralized visibility into current and past candidates, enabling recruiters and technical interviewers to view results and manage candidate notifications from the SkillPanel Platform rather than monitoring disparate inboxes. The deployment focused on streamlining invitation delivery and result reporting inside existing recruitment routines, with Talent Acquisition and engineering interviewers as primary users.
The rollout completed in October 2017, and governance centered on standardizing screening tasks and shifting manual tracking to platform workflows, relieving recruiters from intensive inbox monitoring and manual reply tracking. The implementation explicitly aimed to optimize the recruitment process by automating technical screening, improving assessment consistency, and simplifying candidate result notification.
