In 2014, Sunset World implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as its core ERP Financial system. The deployment focused on automating and centralizing accounting workflows for the leisure and hospitality operator based in Mexico, targeting cash sales review, bank card and currency exchange receipt handling, supplier and customer payment application, invoicing, and tax work paper preparation.
The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 configuration emphasized Financial Accounting modules including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank accounting and cash management capabilities. Implemented functional workflows covered the preparation of invoices, the preparation of policies in the SAP system, collections to customers with credit, and routine reconciliation of accounts and bank accounts, with transaction processing and posting governed inside SAP ERP ECC 6.0.
Operational coverage included the finance and accounting teams and extended to reservations and agency coordination processes, since the implementation included uploading invoices to the extranet of each agency and follow up on reservations not accepted or rejected by the agencies. Multi currency receipt handling, bank card receipt processing and end of day cash sales reconciliation were embedded in the operational procedures recorded in SAP.
Governance changes centered on standardizing reconciliation and reporting workflows, preparation of work papers for tax payments, and formalizing collections and invoice upload procedures within SAP ERP ECC 6.0. These governance and process adjustments aligned accounting, collections, reservation follow up and bank reconciliation under a common ERP Financial control plane.
