In 2023 Superna implemented GitKraken as its primary developer tooling platform. The Apps Development deployment was targeted at product and engineering teams based in Ontario Canada with additional developers in Spain, with the initiative focused on accelerating developer onboarding and reducing labor intensive reporting.
The implementation centered on GitKraken Desktop, paired with GitLens for in editor code context, Git Integration for Jira to link commits to issue tracking, and Signals to automate cross repository reporting. Configuration emphasized repository visualization and standardized branching workflows to facilitate cross repo collaboration, while functional capabilities included in editor annotations, issue linking, and automated reporting feeds.
Integrations were explicitly with GitLens, Git Integration for Jira and Signals, creating a connected toolchain between source control and issue management for product and engineering workflows. Operational coverage spanned developer desktops in Ontario Canada and remote developers in Spain, with aligned tooling presets and repository access controls across those sites.
Rollout began as a pilot before broader roll out to the engineering organization, with governance focused on standardized client configuration and repository access policies. Process changes included formalized onboarding steps tied to the GitKraken Desktop client and use of Git Integration for Jira to embed issue traceability into commits, while Signals centralized reporting cadence and feeds.
The pilot and roll out cut reporting time by 94% and reduced labor intensive reporting for Superna's product and engineering teams. The GitKraken implementation improved onboarding and cross repo collaboration across the engineering organization.
