In 2014 Swissgas Switzerland implemented Abacus Assets Ledger under the Anlagenbuchhaltung category to automate invoice processing and manage fixed assets for its Swiss network operations. The Abacus Assets Ledger was deployed alongside Abacus Financial Accounting, Debitorenbuchhaltung and Kreditorenbuchhaltung as part of the company’s financial application footprint.
Implementation focused on core fixed asset lifecycle capabilities typical of Anlagenbuchhaltung deployments, including a centralized asset register, depreciation schedules and recurring invoice processing workflows configured for utility asset management. The Abacus deployment leverages the Abacus E-Business layer that the customer notes has been in use for about ten years to handle recurring invoice automation and electronic document flows. Functional configuration emphasized invoice automation, reduced paper handling and traceability for audits.
Operational coverage was concentrated on Swissgas’s Swiss network operations and its finance functions, specifically controlling and audit readiness, with Financial Accounting, Debitoren- and Kreditorenbuchhaltung feeding transactional data into the Anlagenbuchhaltung. Integrations were internal between Abacus modules to centralize financial and asset data and to support accounting entries and audit trails.
Governance and process changes included formalizing recurring invoice workflows and audit transparency through the Abacus Assets Ledger, aligning controlling processes with automated document handling. The deployment delivered automated recurring invoice processing, reduced paper and improved transparency for auditors and controlling as reported by the customer.
