In 2016, Symbotic implemented Oracle NetSuite ERP as its ERP Financial platform to centralize global finance operations and establish independent accounting and reporting capabilities. The deployment was aimed at consolidating finance processes owned by the company’s Vice President of Finance and Controller, who led the buildout of an 11-person finance team across the United States and Canada responsible for FP&A, general accounting, audit, tax, treasury and corporate insurance functions.
The Oracle NetSuite ERP implementation encompassed core financial modules typical for ERP Financial deployments, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting and forecasting, consolidation and financial reporting. Configuration emphasized recurring financial close workflows, weekly and monthly reporting cycles, and structured budget iterations to support the firm’s planning and re-modeling processes.
Integrations were implemented with Certify for expense reporting and Egencia for business travel to capture employee spend and to streamline expense-to-ledger posting into Oracle NetSuite ERP. The platform was used as the backbone for integrating G&A functions following the acquisition of Axium Group Holdings, enabling unified accounting practices and cross-border financial controls between Symbotic US and Symbotic Canada.
Governance changes included establishing standardized financial controls and procedures, weekly and quarterly reporting packages for senior management and the Finance Committee, and consolidated processes for audit and tax preparation. The implementation supported the organization’s objective of delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, meeting reporting deadlines, and providing usable management information as part of the company’s centralized accounting and finance operations.
