In 2017, Syngenta implemented SAP Ariba Invoice. The deployment used SAP Ariba Invoice in the AP Automation category to centralize invoice intake and processing for Accounts Payable and Procurement functions across the company.

Architecturally the solution was provisioned as a cloud-based invoicing layer on the Ariba Network, enabling network-based invoice exchange and supplier connectivity. SAP Ariba Invoice was integrated into Syngentas accounts payable and procurement operating workflows to provide posting-ready invoice data and to support end-to-end invoice-to-pay orchestration with the companys corporate financial systems.

The implementation emphasized configuration and automation of platform workflows, with ZONTAL configured for workflow orchestration, data capture and audit trail management consistent with laboratory management requirements. Platform release management and customer-specific configuration were coordinated with Product, R&D and Professional Services, and regression testing was employed for complex data workflows to maintain system stability during updates.
Operational architecture included cloud-native environment provisioning with EKS, RDS and S3 and deployment automation driven by CI/CD pipelines. Platform operations integrated service management and developer tooling, using Freshservice for incident and change management, Jira for ticketing and backlog coordination, Jenkins for pipeline automation, and Slack and Teams for operational notifications and escalation.
Governance and support were organized around ITIL-aligned processes, with L1 to L3 escalation handling, RCA and CAPA workflows and weekly governance reviews. A geographically distributed support model delivered 24/7 coverage across the US, Germany and India, and compliance and audit readiness activities focused on system traceability and GxP alignment in coordination with customer QA teams.
