In 2021, T.Mariotti Shipyard implemented Siemens mPower to digitize and monitor energy across its Genoa shipyard. The deployment connected a new Quadro Elettrico Generale QEGBT populated with Siemens 3WL and 3VA2 breakers, each equipped with measurement and Modbus communication, to Siemens mPower for cloud-based energy analysis and asset-level metering.
Siemens mPower was configured to ingest real-time field measurements, aggregate consumption data for the entire production site, and provide cloud-based analytics and visualization. Functional capabilities implemented include continuous energy measurement collection, asset and circuit level consumption analysis, and dashboarding for energy management and plant operations optimization consistent with the 2D/3D Simulation,Geology and Seismic Data Processing application category terminology.
Integrations were executed at the device and communications layer, with breakers and switchgear sending measured parameters over Modbus into the QEGBT feed, and those streams forwarded to Siemens mPower in the cloud. The operational scope covered the workshop, the quay and office buildings across the roughly 36,000 square meter shipyard and five dry docks in Genoa, bringing facilities, operations and sustainability teams into a single energy monitoring platform.
Governance and process changes centered on instrumenting operations for data driven decision making, enabling the site to define further energy efficiency interventions from measured baselines. Outcomes called out in vendor materials include a more digital and sustainable shipyard, precise collection and analysis of site-wide energy consumption, and the ability to plan interventions aimed at reducing operational costs and environmental impact, with Siemens Power Manager referenced as the analysis component in supplier documentation.
