In 2012, Talen Energy implemented FIS Integrated Payables as an AP Automation solution. The deployment established centralized electronic invoice capture, automated approval workflows, and scheduled electronic payment capability to standardize the company accounts payable function.
FIS Integrated Payables was configured to support invoice image capture and OCR, three-way invoice-to-payment matching, exception routing and straight-through processing for routine invoices, and supplier onboarding workflows. The implementation emphasized automated payment execution and approval escalation to reduce manual touchpoints within AP.
From June 2019 a Solution Architect and ETRM Consultant at Talen Energy led parallel efforts to evaluate and deploy additional automation and managed services on AWS, design and maintain AWS infrastructure using infrastructure as code, and perform data migration from on premises to cloud using serverless Lambda functions. That architect also served as design lead for a new ETRM implementation on the Aligne FIS platform and managed incident management, work prioritization and resource allocation, aligning AP Automation with finance, treasury and procurement governance and operational workflows.

The MicroStrategy ONE Analytics implementation served as the core Analytics and BI layer to consolidate reporting and analytic workflows across enterprise business functions including finance and operations.
The deployment focused on standard Analytics and BI capabilities, including centralized reporting, interactive dashboards, ad hoc analytics, and executive scorecards built in MicroStrategy ONE Analytics. Configuration work emphasized semantic modeling and data security to provide governed self-service access and role based visibility for analysts and managers.
Architecturally the solution integrated MicroStrategy with Informatica driven ETL and source feeds from Workday, creating a pipeline from transactional and HR/financial source systems into a reporting data store consumed by MicroStrategy. The implementation narrative highlights a traditional BI stack pattern with Informatica performing data extraction and transformation and MicroStrategy providing the semantic layer, reporting engine, and visualization surface.
Project governance included dedicated project management, business analysis, programming, testing, and training efforts to support rollout and adoption. The delivery team managed up to 10 interns to complete development and testing tasks, and provided end user training to operationalize the enterprise decision support systems built on MicroStrategy ONE Analytics.
