In 2016, Texas Tech University System implemented Ellucian Banner Document Management (formerly Xtender) as its Document Management solution. The Information Systems department is responsible for the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and support of enterprise applications shared across Texas Tech components including Texas Tech University, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso, and Texas Tech University System Administration.
Ellucian Banner Document Management was configured to provide document capture and imaging, metadata indexing, electronic records storage, and retrieval workflows linked to Banner records supporting student, student financial aid, finance, human resources, payroll, and budget systems. The implementation included configuration of document lifecycle controls, role based access for functional departments, and content search and retrieval capabilities to support operational processing and records management.
Integrations were established between Ellucian Banner Document Management and the Banner ERP suite to associate documents with transactional student and finance records, and the deployment interfaces with the Operational Data Store data warehouse, the Luminis portal including Raiderlink and WebRaider, and Cognos reporting for consumption of document metadata. TTUS Information Systems worked closely with Texas Tech central IT staff and functional departments to support these integrations and to operationalize retrieval and indexing workflows across the campus components.
Operational governance was centralized under TTUS Information Systems which manages ongoing support, configuration changes, and development of additional connectors, while administering access and records policies for multiple campuses and administrative sites. The implementation is part of a unified digital campus application set maintained alongside the Banner ERP suite, ODS, Luminis, and Cognos to streamline document centric processes for students, faculty, and staff.
