BestNotes Legacy BestNotes EMR Electronic Health Record ERP Services and Operations n/a 2014 2014
In 2014 The Discovery House implemented BestNotes EMR as its Electronic Health Record to centralize clinical workflows for a 120 employee behavioral health provider supporting 30 to 40 residential patients and up to 25 outpatient clients. The BestNotes EMR instance was positioned to manage admissions, coordinated medical discharges, and ongoing outpatient scheduling while serving clinical, nursing, and physician teams. Configuration and functional modules emphasized medication administration and order management, clinical documentation, and assessment capture. BestNotes EMR was used to record COWS/CIWA assessments, vital signs capture, nursing clinical notations, medication orders and reconciliation, and uploads of urine analysis and other laboratory documentation, enabling structured admission documentation including medical history, physicals, and scheduled follow up appointments. Operational workflows integrated BestNotes EMR into care coordination with physicians, the clinical team, and the nursing department, and included explicit processes for contacting external pharmacies to set up intake accounts, fill new and refill medications, and manage disposal of discontinued and controlled medications. The system supported scheduling patients to physician and specialist appointments within insurance coverage and housed patient files alongside clinical notations and uploaded test results. Governance and workforce enablement focused on nursing oversight and clinical training, with the organization using BestNotes EMR to oversee four Licensed Vocational Nurses, assign daily nursing tasks, and manage delegation. Staff education on infectious diseases was developed and presented to all staff per JAHCO standards, and medication review workflows were used to document physician order review, medication uses, and counseling on common side effects directly in BestNotes EMR.
