Epicor Legacy Epicor Advanced MES (Mattec) ERP Financial ERP Financial Management n/a 2015 2015
In 2015 The Marmon Group began deploying Epicor Advanced MES (Mattec) as a component of a broader Epicor Kinetic ERP Financial rollout across Marmon Water companies. The initial cloud deployments were hosted by Epicor Managed Services and later evaluated for Microsoft Azure public cloud, with Epicor Kinetic live at three Marmon Water entities including one in Poland and two in North America, and additional sites in India and the U.S. in process, plus a planned expansion to 12 more locations across Singapore, China, Europe, and the U.S. by the end of 2026. The Marmon IT organization manages ERP systems for 22 businesses in nearly a dozen countries, and the Epicor Advanced MES (Mattec) implementation was scoped to support that multi-site operational footprint. The implementation combined Epicor Advanced MES (Mattec) for shop floor and cycle counting capabilities with core ERP Financial functions in Epicor Kinetic, and included transactional modules such as shipping, receiving, and invoicing. Epicor Quick Ship was used to streamline international shipment documentation, and Epicor EDI was configured to handle high volumes of customer purchases where 80 to 90 percent of revenue for some businesses flows through EDI. The deployment emphasized web access to Epicor Kinetic and a strategic move away from the legacy client toward the web version to reduce latency and improve report and transaction performance. Integrations were architected to provide near real-time operational visibility, with Epicor Advanced MES (Mattec) feeding cycle count and shop floor status into the ERP Financial environment, and Epicor EDI and Quick Ship automating order and shipping workflows. The team standardized on concurrent licensing models to optimize user access across sites, and about 200 users were active on Epicor Kinetic in the initial footprint with instance level license pools managed to support peak usage. The environment was instrumented with Epicor dashboards and later augmented through the Grow BI acquisition to enable no-code business intelligence directly against Epicor Kinetic data. Governance and rollout followed a repeatable, centralized program model, using Epicor Professional Services for site configuration and training combined with a Marmon group level methodology that included five conference room pilots and a mock month-end go-live. The implementation practice emphasized disciplined cutover procedures to achieve consistent outcomes in shipping, receiving, and invoicing on day one at each site. Decision making on upgrades and testing was centralized, leveraging the public cloud option to enable synchronized, real-time upgrades across instances. Operational outcomes described by Marmon include materially faster system response and reporting, reduced latency on the web client, and specific transaction time reductions such as international shipment paperwork shrinking from about one hour to roughly five minutes using Epicor Quick Ship integrated with the ERP Financial platform. Users reported improved access to dashboards showing Open Orders, Inventory Levels and Turns, Shipment Backlog, Orders not Invoiced, and RMAs, which supported production, quality, and inventory decisions. Epicor Advanced MES (Mattec) provided cycle counting and shop floor integration that tied directly into those ERP Financial processes and reporting streams.
