| HackerRank | Legacy | HackerRank Platform | Talent Assessment | HCM | n/a | 2021 | 2021 |
In 2021, Vanguard Group implemented the HackerRank Platform for Talent Assessment. The HackerRank Platform is used as an early-stage screening layer for all entry-level software development hiring, with assessments issued automatically as candidates begin the process via Vanguard's careers website.
Nick Alexandro, Senior Software Engineering Manager and Vanguard Digital Advisor, leads development of the technical assessments used to evaluate core programming competencies for entry-level software engineers. The assessments operate as automated coding challenges with objective scoring to filter large applicant pools and prioritize candidates for interviews, helping to quickly identify those lacking core technical skills and flag top performers for deeper evaluation.
The HackerRank Platform integrates with Vanguard's candidate workflow by issuing assessments through the careers site and delivering scored results into the recruiting review process. Operational coverage is scoped to entry-level software engineering hires across teams overseen by four scrum teams of eight people each, aligning recruiting and engineering hiring practices.
Assessment governance is owned by the Vanguard engineering leadership who maintain question banks and scoring thresholds to align with hiring standards, and final cultural and deeper technical fit are assessed during interview stages. Since implementing the HackerRank Platform Vanguard reports reduced time-to-hire by identifying top candidates earlier, higher quality candidates, more offers, and a reduction in the number of interviews required to hire equivalent numbers of high-quality candidates.

| Kore.ai | Legacy | Kore.ai | Chatbots and Conversational AI | AI-Powered Application | n/a | 2023 | 2023 |
In 2023, Vanguard Group implemented Kore.ai to automate front-office and back-office business interactions under the Chatbots and Conversational AI category. The engagement focused on improving customer, agent, and employee experiences and supported both external CX channels and internal EX use cases across contact center and enterprise support functions.
Kore.ai was configured using its no-code Experience Optimization XO Platform, leveraging the Conversation Designer to convert user-assistant transcripts into executable dialog tasks. The implementation used the platform's multi-engine natural language stack, combining Fundamental Meaning, Knowledge Graph and Machine Learning engines, with support for zero-shot and few-shot training and optional large language models such as OpenAI's GPT-3 to streamline conversation design and response generation. Process Automation capabilities were enabled to build multi-user, multi-step workflows that can be conversationally triggered and operationalized.
Deployment used Kore.ai's flexible model, with options for cloud, on-premise or hybrid hosting, and integration through configurable APIs and the platform's Bot SDK. The rollout included omnichannel coverage across voice and digital channels, support for conversational voice on IVR and consumer assistants, and multilingual delivery across more than 100 languages. Agent transfer was configured to pass conversation history and contextual metadata to human agents, and the platform's intelligent analytics dashboards were provisioned to monitor usage and performance.
Governance and quality controls emphasized the platform's comprehensive testing stack, including utterance, batch and conversation testing, along with explainable AI features to surface intent recognition and training suggestions for iterative improvement. Training workflows relied on the native intent, entity and synonym libraries to accelerate assistant readiness. The Kore.ai XO Platform's stated benefits include faster time-to-market, easier maintenance, improved productivity and lower operational costs, and vendor materials reference enterprise scale metrics such as 350 plus Fortune 2000 customers, a 25 percent to 75 percent automation rate range and a reported greater than $1 billion in cost reduction across customers.
