Oracle Legacy Oracle NetSuite ERP ERP Financial ERP n/a 2007 2007
In 2007, Toronto Star implemented Oracle NetSuite ERP to establish a standardized ERP Financial platform for its corporate finance and accounting functions. The deployment targeted core financial modules including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, fixed asset accounting, and financial reporting, aligning system configuration with the scale of a 2,000 employee Canadian media publisher with annual revenue of approximately 300,000,000. Oracle NetSuite ERP was positioned to centralize transactional finance activity and standardize chart of accounts and period close procedures across the organization. The implementation emphasized configuration of role based access controls, automated AR and AP workflows, and financial close orchestration to reduce manual reconciliation work consistent with ERP Financial best practices. Governance changes focused on establishing centralized financial controls and formalizing month end and reporting workflows, with phased rollouts and training across finance and accounting teams to embed new operational processes. The narrative centers on Toronto Star Oracle NetSuite ERP as the primary ERP Financial solution implemented in 2007, supporting the companys corporate finance and accounting operations.

UKG Legacy UKG Workforce Central Timekeeper (ex Kronos Workforce Timekeeper) Time and Attendance HCM n/a 2013 2013
In 2013, Toronto Star implemented UKG Workforce Central Timekeeper (ex Kronos Workforce Timekeeper) as its Time and Attendance solution. The implementation targeted centralized workforce time capture and standardized time entry processes across the organization, aligning with Toronto Star's 2,000 employee operating footprint in Canada. The deployment focused on core timekeeper capabilities, including employee time entry, administrative timekeeper controls, exception handling, supervisor approval workflows, and configurable time rules and pay code mapping. UKG Workforce Central Timekeeper was configured to support operational timekeeping and to produce structured attendance and exception reports for downstream consumption. The UKG Workforce Central Timekeeper implementation was executed in parallel with managed implementations of LongView Financial reporting, Halogen performance management, Cognos BI, SmartStream Fixed Assets, and a Redbrick data warehouse migration. Integration touchpoints were established so time and attendance data could be consolidated into the Redbrick data warehouse and surfaced via Cognos BI, while supporting financial reporting workflows with LongView and fixed asset reconciliation processes tied to SmartStream. Governance emphasized centralized administration of timekeeper roles and policy configuration, with staged rollouts coordinated across business units and data migration activities aligned to the Redbrick migration. The program framed timekeeping as an enterprise data source for reporting and financial systems, with clear operational ownership for ongoing time entry stewardship and exception resolution.
