In 2013, Tourism New Zealand implemented Datacom DataPay as its Payroll solution alongside a Microsoft Dynamics AX HR deployment to establish a Human Resources Management Information System. The combined implementation aimed to centralize HR and payroll workflows and provide timely, accurate information for core HR functions.
The Microsoft Dynamics AX HR module was configured to deliver core capabilities including payroll input support, leave reporting, remuneration records, performance management, employee master data, and turnover reporting. Business requirements and analysis work for the AX HR module was carried out with KPMG as the implementation partner, and the project included system configuration, documentation, and training on Microsoft Dynamics AX HR.
Datacom DataPay was provisioned as the outsourced payroll engine and integrated to AX through mapped interfaces. Project activities included managing the HR and payroll outsource integration streams between Tourism New Zealand, KPMG, and Datacom, data mapping from AX to the Datacom DataPay interface, testing of the AX system and the HR to pay data interface, and validation of pay data flows.
Project governance covered oversight of the HR and payroll integration streams, communications, training, and coaching of managers on interpreting HR data to enable synergies. Operational scope focused on HR and payroll business functions across Tourism New Zealand, with formalized testing, training, and documentation embedded in the rollout.
