In 2020, Tourism NI implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as its ERP Financial platform. Codec collaborated with the organisation to onboard Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement within the Business Central suite, and subsequently expanded the deployment to include Finance & Operations and Talent solutions to address CRM, core finance, and HR requirements.
The Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central implementation centralized customer engagement data and financial processes, consolidating communications and interactions to create a single view of the individual customer. Functional scope included CRM capabilities through Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement, financial management and reporting via Finance & Operations, and HR core capabilities through Talent, aligned with typical ERP Financial workflows such as general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, and consolidated reporting.
Architecturally the program paired the Business Central solution with a planned and executed Azure cloud migration to transition from on-premises and co-located infrastructure to a fully cloud infrastructure. Codec led integration work to enable seamless connectivity between internal and external systems, and the cloud migration created a scalable platform to support fluctuating demand and future D365 product expansion.
Governance followed a milestone based transition model, with the cloud migration and staged D365 expansions positioned as a lighthouse project for other public sector agencies in Northern Ireland. Outcomes explicitly delivered included complete control of IT infrastructure with seamless integration of systems, scalable infrastructure, improved IT security and enhanced GDPR and PCI compliance, and a centralized single view of the customer, with ongoing engagement between Tourism NI and Codec to extend the platform.
