In 2017 TrailStone implemented Oracle NetSuite ERP as its ERP Financial platform. The deployment centralized core finance for the 150-employee utilities firm, with explicit responsibilities for product control and derivatives accounting, consolidation of multiple North American entities within NetSuite, preparation of year-end and quarterly financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, and monthly global BvA analysis and internal reports for Management and the Board of Directors.
Oracle NetSuite ERP was configured to support multi-entity consolidation and general ledger management, with financial reporting capabilities tailored to US GAAP presentation. Configuration included consolidation workflows, intercompany accounting controls, recurring journal and adjustment templates, and budgeting and variance analysis constructs to enable the monthly BvA cadence.
The cloud-based Oracle NetSuite ERP instance functioned as the central financial system across the North American entities, supporting finance and product control teams in producing internal management packs and board materials. Operational coverage focused on consolidation, period close orchestration, financial statement generation, and internal variance reporting used by corporate finance and accounting functions.
Governance was formalized through standardized month-end and quarter-end close schedules, role based access controls and segregation of duties configured in NetSuite, and documented sign off workflows for consolidated reporting and derivative accounting entries. These controls and process templates were aligned to support recurring US GAAP-compliant reporting and internal management review cycles.
